Why Were You at Waverly Hills?
When I was a teenager, we used to drive up the road that leads to Waverly Hills as far as we could go before we had to get out of the car and walk the rest of the way. This was back before its current owners bought it, so it was known primarily for being a place where a lot of people died of a horrible disease and less as a scary haunted house, hotel, or tourist attraction.

Waverly Hills, in my opinion, is a terrifying place regardless of whether it's haunted or not. When we snuck up there, my friends and I generally walked for a few feet before getting spooked and running terrified back to the car and driving like maniacs until we were far, far away from the towering, dark, quiet building.

- Visit at night--the winding drive up the hill in the dark sets the tone for what you'll find at its top.
