There are plenty of Louisville Christmas events going on in 2009 to keep you busy when you're not out buying presents or getting ready to entertain family. Whether you want to take your kids to meet Santa Claus or have martinis with your girlfriends, you'll find plenty to do for Christmas in Louisville.

"Me&Ro" Holiday Trunk Show

When: November 13-15
Where: Luna Boutique
What: Kick off the 2009 holiday shopping season with a visit to Luna Boutique for a special trunk show featuring the unique jewelry designs by New York based Me&Ro. Enjoy holiday refreshments while you shop.

Light Up Okolona

When: November 20
Where: Lone Oak Park
What: Gather with neighborhood groups to ring in the holidays with Santa.

Light Up Lyndon

When: November 25
Where: Lyndon City Hall
What: Light Up Lyndon is an annual event to kick off the holidays featuring family-friendly activities such as pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, musical entertainment, face painting, carriage rides, cookies and cider, and more.

Black Friday in Louisville

When: November 27
Where: Throughout Kentuckiana
What: Black Friday is a huge shopping day in Louisville. Shoppers line up at stores and malls all over Kentuckiana to cash in on the major Louisville Black Friday sales.

Black Friday Trolley Hop

When: November 27
Where: Frankfort Avenue
What: This special Black Friday trolley hop lasts all day, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and features Christmas shopping and art browsing at all of Frankfort Avenue's favorite independent businesses and art galleries.

Light Up Louisville

When: November 27
Where: Jefferson Square Park
What: This day-long celebration draws more than 75,000 attendees and features music, a parade, and a market, ending with the lighting of Jefferson Square and the Louisville Christmas tree.

Louisville Orchestra Holiday Spectacular

When: November 28
Where: Brown Theater
What: Jason Weinberger leads the Louisville Orchestra, the Louisville Youth Choir, and the audience in songs to welcome the season. The festivities are at the Brown Theatre at 7 p.m. and may include a visit from a friend from the North Pole. The program will include many seasonal favorites including selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite and the Overture from Richman’s Hanukkah Festival.

Light Up St. Matthews

When: November 29
Where: Brown Park
What: Light Up St. Matthews features Radio Disney, letters to Santa, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, train rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, a petting zoo, Ronald McDonald, strolling carolers, cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider, and more. At 6:00 pm the switch is thrown and Brown Park lights up.

Light Up the Village

When: December 3
Where: Westport Village
What: This annual Westport Village Christmas lights unveiling event includes the holiday tradition of pictures with Santa, horse-drawn sleigh rides, an outdoor Christmas concert, local choirs, and Christmas carolers.
