2009 Mother's Day Events in Louisville

By Jessica Elliott, About.com

Mother's Day this year is Sunday, May 10th. Unless you took your mom to the Derby as an early Mother's Day present, you're going to need to drag yourself back out the next weekend and take her somewhere special. It is your mom, after all. Just in case you used up all of your best ideas planning your Derby party, I've compiled a list of 2009 Louisville Mother's Day events to make things easier on you. Any one of them would be a great treat for your mother on her special day.

Seating is available at 11:30/11:45 a.m. and at 1:15/1:30 p.m. The brunch buffet includes a variety of entrée selections, seasonal salads, fruits and side dishes, a waffle and omelet station and delectable desserts.

Brunch at The English Grill

Afterwards, guests will enjoy a plated entrée choice of filet mignon, lemon crusted halibut, or roasted Amish chicken prepared by The Brown’s executive chef Laurent Géroli and served in The English Grill. For the grand finale, several decadent desserts will be served including peach crumble and hazelnut opera cake. The price is $49 per person plus tax and a 20 percent gratuity charge.

Brunch at Locust Grove

When: May 10th
Where: Locust Grove
What: Louisville's historic Locust Grove has an annual Gardner's Fair and Silent Auction every year during Mother's Day weekend, and the Mother's Day Brunch is one of the event's most anticipated activities. The Gardner's Fair offers visitors the chance to buy a variety of garden plants as well as participate in a silent auction. Brunch will be served at 10:00 a.m., Noon, and 2 p.m., and reservations are required.

Art in the Arbor

When: May 9th and 10th

With over 100 artists’ booths, up to 8,000 visitors will mingle throughout the forest buying and admiring local and regional artwork on the weekend after Derby. If your mother loves art, this is the perfect thing to do with her on Mother's Day.

Mother's Day at Slugger Field

When: May 10th
Where: Louisville Slugger Field
What: If your mom is a fan of baseball, sun, or beer, she might really enjoy going to Louisville Slugger Field to watch the Louisville Bats play on Mother's Day. Women 18 and older can get in on Mother's Day for only $1 if they buy their tickets at the box office window. Additionally, after the game, moms can play catch on the field with their child for free.
