Go Green, Get Cash

Wednesday April 23, 2008
If you need to replace your lawn care equipment this spring, then you may want to consider going green and purchasing an electric lawnmower, weed eater, or leaf blower. Not only will you be buying socially responsible lawn care equipment and saving money by not buying gas, but you can also get a rebate of as much as $100 from the Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District.

My husband and I went all-electric this year. With gas prices at record highs, we opted for a battery-powered lawnmower (Compare Prices) as opposed to a gas powered lawnmower. At first, we were nervous that the battery would die before we finished mowing the lawn. However, we ended up being able to mow the lawn four times on one charge. And, we don't have to worry about running out of gas or storing a half-full gas can.

The best part, Jefferson County residents can get rebates from the Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District up to $100 for buying an electric lawnmower, up to $50 for buying a new lawnmower battery, up to $30 for buying an electric weed eater (Compare Prices) or leaf blower. For more information or to print a rebate request form, visit the Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District website.
