There are a ton of reasons why you should be shopping locally for your Christmas presents this year: you want to support the local economy in these tough economic times, Louisville has a ton of interesting and diverse local shops, and you want to give your friends and family interesting, original, and unique presents. So, if those aren't reasons enough, now the Louisville Independent Business Alliance is offering another incentive for shopping locally this holiday season:
The rules are easy: collect receipts from five member businesses by 1/5/11, present the receipts for review at one of the sponsor sites (Highland Cleaners or Bowles Mattress), and you'll be entered into the drawing to win $1000 in gift certificates to LIBA businesses.
The winner will be drawn live on Friday, January 7, 2011, on WAVE 3's new talk show "725 S. Floyd" at 12:30 p.m., and they will get to choose from over 325 LIBA businesses where they wish to spend their $1,000. There will also be secondary prizes awarded, including gift certificates to Actors Theatre Louisville, Dundee Candy Shop, Edenside Gallery, Genevieve's Healing Arts Therapeutic Massage, Infinite Bliss Yoga, Jordan Clines Jewelry and Oxenrose Home.
