Fun Upcoming Halloween Events

pumpkinsIf you're looking for a nontraditional way to celebrate Halloween this month, consider attending one of these upcoming Halloween events:

Free Halloween Mask Workshop
When: October 23, 2010
Time: 10 a.m. to Noon
What: Make a Halloween mask at the Museum of the American Printing House for the Blind. Using tactile materials, APH staff will guide participants as they make a scary or silly Halloween mask or headdress. This event is best for adults and children in first grade and up. It is free to the public, but space is limited so registration by October 21 is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Call (502) 899-2213, or e-mail kcarpenter@aph.org to register.

Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."
When: October 27-28 and November 2-3
Time: 7:30 p.m.
What: This Halloween, the Frazier International History Museum's Interpretive Department will bring several of Edgar Allan Poe's best known works to the live stage for four performances of an original show entitled, Nevermore: An Evening with Poe.
Tickets are just $15 and also include museum gallery access (More Info).

Dia de los Muertos Public Altar Installation
When: November 5, 2010
Time: 5-10 p.m.
What: To celebrate "La Dia ds los Muertos," the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft is hosting a celebration in conjunction with the November First Friday Trolley Hop that will include food, live music, sugar skull and tissue flower workshops, Flamenco and fire dancers, face painting, a skeleton costume contest, art cars, and a candlelit march. The celebration is free and open to the public, and guests are encouraged to wear costumes and masks.
