Some of you, I'm certain, look forward to cooking or going to your grandma's house for Thanksgiving dinner. Some of you don't necessarily look forward to cooking but enjoy making your family happy by preparing Thanksgiving dinner. For those of you who don't fit into either of these categories, you can still have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at one of Louisville's amazing restaurants. For the list of restaurants serving Thanksgiving dinner, check out my article on Louisville Thanksgiving Dinner options.

Are there any restaurants open that are serving non-traditional Thanksgiving meals? We don’t necessarily want the traditional dinner with all the trimmings, but would like to go out to eat.

I don’t know of any offhand, but my best suggestion would be to check in with Proof on Main as we get closer to Thanksgiving. I know that they are serving on Thanksgiving from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. off of their a la carte menu, but as of today Chef Paley did not have the menu finalized. However, Proof is a pretty nontraditional place, so I would imagine if anyone is serving non-Thanksgiving food on Thanksgiving, Proof will be the place.

Sorry I’m not more help. My only other suggestion is to call any place that you have in mind that you like eating at and ask about their Thanksgiving menu.

We’ll be be in Louisville with our adult son for Thanksgiving, and we’re looking for a special restaurant for dinner on Thanksgiving day. Any suggestions?

I’ll have to second Proof on Main again for you. It’s one of my favorite places to eat in Louisville–good atmosphere, amazing food, and fabulous cocktails. I can’t imagine that you wouldn’t all enjoy dinner there. Plus, they’ll be serving both traditional and nontraditional Thanksgiving fare.

However, if you have time to kill, you may want to consider the buffet at Churchill Downs. After you eat, you could go watch some of the races.

The Oak Room at the Seelbach has a great Thanksgiving Meal. Traditional and other…Prime Rib, omelette station, etc..Although it gets booked early…may be already full. Should have a menu on-line.
