Money Saving Tip for Cyber Monday

Monday December 1, 2008
Hopefully you're already finding all sorts of great deals online today for Cyber Monday, but, if not, I discovered a great website last week that might get you a great deal any day of the year. Retail Me Not is a website that provides discount coupon codes for thousands of online retailers.

For example, last week I placed an order through Restaurants.com after reading a blog post at Consuming Louisville that noted their great discounts on gift certificates for local restaurants. After checking out the deals, I purchased a $25 gift certificate from Artemesia for $10 and a $10 gift certificate from Kashmir for $3. I thought $13 for $35 worth of gift certificates was a bargain. However, as if that wasn't good enough, I then checked Retail Me Not for a discount code and found one for 70% off at Restaurants.com. I applied the code to my order, and it worked! I ended up getting $35 worth of gift certificates for local restaurants for less than $4.

The best part is that Retail Me Not has a system of ratings that makes it easy to determine which coupon codes work and which have expired or are no good. I know I'll make sure to check the site from now on anytime I buy anything online.

Good info especially in these hard times. If you go further you find you can add an addon to Firefox and anytime you are on a site it will pop up and tell you if there is a coupon for that site. There are other things you can add that also helps when shopping. I tried the pop up on L. L. Bean and at the top of the page it says there are coupons available on RetailMeNot.com. Neat.

By the time I get the code word, it is expired.
