Where You Can Buy Local Food and Goods

Monday September 29, 2008
The big focus during the summer of 2008 was on buying locally-grown produce from farmers markets. However, the turn of seasons does not mean an end to the ability to buy locally-grown and produced food and goods. According to Business First, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture just released a website that allows consumers to search for groceries and retailers that sell Kentucky Proud products.

Once you arrive at the Kentucky Proud product search engine, you can search by type of goods, specific product, county, and neighborhood either individually or all at once. For example, a search for Kentucky Proud trout in the neighborhood of Louisville brought back three results. A search for all Kentucky Proud product retailers in Jefferson County brought back what appeared to be several hundred results. If you're interested in buying local food products, I strongly suggest checking it out.
