Paula, Simon, Randy, and Kara will be in Louisville on Thursday for the second round of American Idol auditions. Only the best and worst from the initial Louisville auditions will be seen by the fantastic four, and the folks over at the C-J have offered lucky second-round auditioners some tips on song choice for their big day. Whitney Houston and Queen tunes top their list of songs to avoid while a couple of John Lennon and George Michael singles are suggested as good potential picks.
I have some more advice, though this is just from my experiences watching Idol and not by any means professional advice. Don't wear a costume you bought from Caufield's to auditions. Don't insist that your mother be in the room while you audition. Don't scream and curse if you are not given a ticket to Hollywood. Don't incorporate dance into your routine. Don't hit on the judges. If you do these things after I've warned against them, I will not feel guilty laughing at your expense when the auditions air next year.
Otherwise, I wish you all the best of luck. I'd love to see a Louisvillian in the finals next year!
