Corydon World on the Square
Monday August 11, 2008
Corydon's "World on the Square" event was this past weekend, and I was there, of course, because I never turn down free food. The sixth-annual event was focused on international education as a means of teaching children tolerance toward those of different backgrounds, nationalities, and belief systems. There were individuals there selling goods, providing educational information, and presenting their talents.

One of the presentations was of belly dancing featuring Raqia, pictured above, a belly dance instructor who lives and teaches in New Albany. Raqia danced beautifully alone, with her partner, and with her students. She was voted best belly dance instructor in the 2007 Best of Louisville Awards. For more information, visit Raqia at her website.
As for the free samples of international cuisine that I was looking forward to, well, they were gone before I made it through the line. Next year I'll know to get over there much earlier.
