The Other Gas Crisis

Friday August 8, 2008
While high automobile gas prices have been the talk of the nation all summer long, talk about the high cost of gas may well continue through the winter, though this talk will likely be about the other gas crisis. WDRB reported last night that LG&E officials expect natural gas prices to be much higher this year than last. They're saying that natural gas costs have fluctuated throughout the summer, reaching prices as high as 80% more than they were last year.

Even though it's still 90 degrees outside, it's not too early to start planning for the cold, especially if you're like me and can't afford to pay $500 a month to keep your house warm. If you're interested in doing everything you can to save on heating costs, you may want to do an energy audit on your home before that first bill arrives in your mailbox.

The U.S. Department of Energy has information on doing an energy audit yourself as well as getting a professional energy audit. Regardless of which you choose, doing an energy audit on your home can help you cut your upcoming heating bills significantly.
